A quick round-up in photos of our last day of shop at Leeds Market Week.
As already mentioned we had some lovely live music provided by some string and woodwind performers from the West Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra.
We had the ever favourite market tombola, feauturing weird, wonderful and unique prizes donated by traders.
We got the children of the market involved in our paper collage picture of the main market entrance and our storyteller friend Matthew had them hanging on his every word.
Do keep checking back for more stuff from Shop at Leeds Market
Well it’s been a busy morning at our stall at the bottom of fish row, and if you’ve been around you’ll have heard some members of West Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra have been entertaining the shoppers with some beautiful pieces of music.
Here’s a few pictures of the string quartet and the wind quintet performing around the market, and a few videos will be winging their ways onto our Youtube account for you to enjoy in the comfort of your own armchair.
Saturday - the big day

Well market fans, all good things come to an end as they say, and tomorrow will be the last day of our shop at leeds market week. But we’re not going out quietly, oh no! Between 10 a.m and 12 in the afternoon we’ve got another musical treat in store for you, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for some orchestral manoeuvres in the market.
We’ll also have a market themed tombola with unique and interesting prizes, all to be found around the stalls of kirkgate.
And if that wasn’t all, our resident storyteller Matthew Bellwood of @365LeedsStories fame will be doing what he does best and telling some great stories for us, which looks set to be a real treat.
Hope to see you all tomorrow!
Just a few pictures of our day so far. We’ve got lovely addition to our stall from Dawn from Fabrication. She brought us a great outfit made from material purchased from one of the stalls right here in the market.
We also need your help in filling in our creative maps of the market, and we’ve always got an ear (giant or otherwise) for your market related stories. So pop down for our super-fun-exciting final day tomorrow and you may been in for another rather special musical treat…
We’re mid-way through the penultimate day of Shop at Leeds Market week and it’s been a great week so far. Today we’ve spoken to some very interesting people, with some more memories about the people’s favourite “woodbine lizzie”, and someone who remembered the horse meat stall, which is now a jewellers!
At our stall right now we’ve set up a little price comparison to demonstrate one of the markets best qualities: the excellent value. We’ve compared what you can get for just £5 from around the market and from the nearest major supermarket Morrisons. We may be biased, but looking at the photo above you can definitely see who gives you more value for your fiver!
Here’s a collection of photos to round up Thursday’s events. It’s been quite a day!
Here’s those school children hard at work, and some of the great drawings they made. Well done guys!
Well, we’ve had a great day so far, lots of people coming for a chat, a whole school class came in as part of their tour round the market and did some brilliant drawings on our walls. Lots of crabs. And of course there was the opera. Here’s a video in case you missed it.
Opera North are down this morning providing some entertainment for the good people of the market. Already Neil’s fruit and veg have been given a hand drawing in the cutomers with some operatic market banter. Make sure you come down quick if you want to see the next round of pop up opera!
